Internet killed the TV Star

Hollywood is the ER patient that is hanging on to life. With every loss in life they are trying to resuscitate it with whatever new or old treatments they have. They are using old body parts to bring back the dead, remaking what has already been remade. Organs are failing and the paddles of 3d and CGi are only keeping the bad heart of a story alive for only so long.
This decade many aspiring film makers dropped out of the rat race to get J.O.B.s, most in the real estate industry. Some grew impatient while others found employment and careers in other markets. With all of the strikes that happened , creativity stopped, the desire to struggle for a questionable industry decayed, and Hollywood had to play catch up to the internet which seems to still be growing exponentially.
The internet has become an important tool in film making now days. There is a D.I.Y quality about the internet.
If you have a camera, some form of editing equipment and a rag-tag crew (yourself), you can make, create and distribute your own work. And after the inevitable breakdown of blockbuster http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/blockbuster_files_bankruptcy_hopes_to_reorganize/
One can say that the brick and mortar world of film, a conundrum, is now looking towards a virtual audience.
There are so many tools that are at the new film makers disposal. Cameras from $50 to $5000 that you can use to make a semi-pro hidef film. Editing equipment that is offered free with some computers as well as more advanced editing equipment. Outlets and distribution to an audience like YouTube, vimeo and special interest sites. All of this can be done on a very low budget and the ability to have an un-foretold number of audience members.
Even fund raising has become a much easier task, with web pages that allow the film maker or artist to build a social base and raise funds for their films. Indiegogo.com and kickstarter are just a few to start off the fund-raising campaign.
After the funds and after the film is complete, then what? Well once your film is on the internet whatever outlet you choose, it has become easy to make a little cash off your work. Advertisers are starting to realize the huge impact that the internet is having on purchasing trends. There are untapped resources out there via the internet that the advertisers were not privy to before. Social networks and open source networks, are just a few ways an advertiser can get their brand out there. And the more hits a page gets the better it is for both parties.
Ad networks are becoming easily accessible to individuals and a source page can easily be liked up with related industries as sponsors. Technology that is already in place makes it easier for business owners and advertisers to get an understanding of current trends, page views and crowd sourcing, which has never been easier. Unlike television there is no need for extra equipment in the 2.0 world, nor is extra work or questionnaires needed. (Nielsen Ratings)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neilsen_ratings
This type of real world analytic is what is pushing Advertisers to sponsor individuals as a brand. And it is what Hollywood and mainstream television (the old school) is concerned about.

Internet personalities like Tay Zonday “Chocolate Rain”, Justine Ezarik A.K.A IJustines ” 300 page cell phone bill”, and Backyard Brawls are just a few who became brands in their own rights and have moved on to different forms of success. They have become the forerunners of a medium that can do bigger and better. The lack of limitations on the net, no time frames, no rules needed, and no producers looking down your neck to get the film done for the Market. With that type of freedom think of the possibilities. Freedom of creativity, news information, imagination and an audience to watch.

  3. “Hollywood is dead” and its so obvious. Whoever their creative people are, must not be having dreams or they are all dreamed. When I saw them advertising Hawaii Five-0 I was like, its dead. They need to stop hiring their in-laws and place real passionate thinkers into positions.

  4. Interesting article, and the website seems nice all-around also, I been to a few pages before commenting, I usually don’t comment unless I find there is something worth-it on the site. Great site, and thank you for the quality.
